Less Maintenance Internet Cafe/Laboratory
As viruses continue to spread and bring a lot of damages. Many companies utilizing computer to run their business are struggling due to virus infection. Many anti virus programs appeared as to be the answer on that issue but the real thing is it depends on how we configured our system. Here are the solutions:

1. Purchase a license anti-virus( avoid using of pirated copy-NEVER). You know what I mean.
2. Use deep freeze
3. Avoid downloading from suspicious sites(most of them contains variant of trojan and worm).
4. Use file storage server(running on Linux is better using Samba)
Tip. When using this method it is better that all client workstations have single partition only. And, use           deep freeze to avoid viruses on staying.
5. or better use Linux(Linux=profit+freedom+less maintenance+satisfaction)

On our computer laboratory here are my settings:

1. File storage server (Ubuntu 8.04) with:
     *2Gb RAM
     *1Tb Hard disk
     *Dual Core Processor
     *Gigabit ethernet card
     *Samba
     *FTP-for installers and drivers
     *Clamav anti virus
2. Proxy server (Ubuntu text-based 8.04) with:
     *Dansguardian-for filtering and banning
     *4Gb RAM
     *80Gb Hard disk
     *Gigabit ethernet card
     *Dual Core Processor
     *Clamav anti virus(open source)
     *Firewall
3. Workstation (Windows XP/Edubuntu 8.04)
     *Deep Freeze
     *Drive C: (single partition only)
     *Wireless NIC
*Anti virus is optional since Deep Freeze was installed
4. Netwotk Devices
    *Wireless Router
    *Gigabit Ethernet Switch
    *Expander (if neccesary)

Note: Before installing deep freeze make sure that all neccesary applications are installed and properly configured.

Installation Problem across Multiple Units with the same Specs

My boss told me to reformat all the units on computer laboratory. All the units has the same specs as follows:
1. Motherboard - Wolfdale1333-D667
2. Processor - Intel Celeron 1.8Ghz (64bit)
3. RAM- DDR2 512Mb
4. HDD - Seagate 80GHz (SATA)
5. *DVD/CDROM - (SATA)

But, Im wondering why the other units did not proceed to the installation process after the prompt which says,
Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration...
So I made some assumptions. I changed the IDE settings...nothing happened. I also tried to transfer the hard disk from the failed unit to the working one thinking that there's a problem on system configurations...and got the same scenario. After some cups of coffee and sticks of cigarette I decided to transfer the BIOS from the working unit. And guess what...it works.
